About

The Pyramids Lookout stands as one of the Granite Belt's most accessible summit walks, leading through open woodland to a distinctive granite outcrop that rewards the climb with sweeping panoramas. The track winds upward through native bushland, where weathered boulders and rocky formations hint at the region's ancient volcanic past, before emerging at the rocky crown that gives the lookout its name.

From the summit, walkers gain uninterrupted views across the high country in every direction, taking in the Granite Belt's characteristic landscape of rolling farmland, forested ranges and scattered granite tors. The vantage point makes it particularly popular at sunrise and sunset, when the light picks out the contours of the surrounding peaks and valleys.

Visitors often praise the walk for its relatively gentle gradient and the quality of the views relative to the effort required, making it a favourite among families and photographers. Regulars rate the late afternoon light, when the granite takes on a warm glow and the valleys below settle into shadow.
