Underground Creek circuit

The Underground Creek circuit offers one of the more accessible walks in Girraween National Park, winding through the distinctive granite landscape that defines this corner of the Granite Belt. The 2-kilometre loop follows Underground Creek as it threads between massive rounded boulders and outcrops, passing through stands of scribbly gum and open heathland that bursts with wildflowers after winter rains. The track is relatively flat and well-formed, making it suitable for most fitness levels, though the granite surfaces can become slippery when wet.

Visitors often praise the variety packed into such a short walk — the contrast between shaded creekside sections and exposed granite slopes means you experience several distinct environments within an hour or so. The boulder formations provide natural sculpture along the route, and the creek itself runs clear over smooth rock in most seasons.
